Religious Diversity in Colonial Pennsylvania – 1 night (2 hrs)

$ 30.00

William Penn founded Pennsylvania as a haven for his fellow Quakers. His conviction that “force makes hypocrites; ’tis persuasion only that makes converts” led to a policy of tolerance that drew other persecuted sects to the colony. The Amish, Dunkers, Schwenkfelders, Mennonites, and Moravians made small if picturesque additions, but German Reformed, Lutherans, Anglicans, Presbyterians, Catholics and Jews were part of the mix, which survives to this day.

Thursday, August 17 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
